The top three teams from each group will advance to the Qualifying Round. Teams from Groups A and B will play their Qualifying Round games in Bydgoszcz while the six teams advancing from Groups C and D will play in Lodz. The Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Finals will be played in Katowice.
The final spot at EuroBasket 2009 will be earned by the winner of the Additional Qualifying Round. The six teams participating were drawn into two groups of three with the winners of each group playing each other home and away for the final ticket to Poland.

Finally, the four teams competing in the Additional Relegation Round were assigned numbers to determine the order of their games. The teams finishing in the bottom two spots will be relegated to Division B.
