Problemi u Olimpiji:
After the managing committee of
Union Olimpija
met on Tuesday but didn't come out with any final decision regarding
the difficult financial situation in the club except that it will try
to find solutions in the next ten days, players published their
official statement on Thursday.
Signed by the captain
Marko Milič
but written on behalf of all players, the statement included the
ultimatum to the management of the club. »We decided that we will stop
practicing and playing a day after the Euroleague's game against
Maccabi, scheduled for November 30th, if we won't receive our salaries
until then. We regret we have to take such a radical stand and we hope
things will resolve until then as it was promised to the club and to
players,« was written in the statement. Afterwards the statement of the
club's director Matjaž Tavčar followed. »The management of the club was
not surprised with the ultimatum of players. The club is in a difficult
financial situation due to debts to players and coaches from the past
and also because we are paying off the old loans. The club's management
met with players on Thursday and promised to do everything in the next
days to assure money before December 1st,« said Tavčar.
