Cerci says ‘yes’ to Milan. Torres is now officially an Atlético player
Alessio Cerci, whose move to Milan held the key to Fernando Torres returning to the Calderon, has finally given an affirmative answer to a move to the Serie A side. This response is the final part of the deal which will finally see Fernando Torres were the red and white stripes again, seven years after leaving his boyhood club.
It was a morning of intense negotiation. Torres flew to Dubai with the Milan squad as there was no answer from Cerci at that point. The Italian posted in his Facebook a note denying that he was leaving the Madrid based club. "As always when I’m involved, I have to deal with false news stories. I’ve rejected no-one and signed for no-one. I’m an Atlético player and weighing up the best option all round", was the message published on the social media site this morning.
At the same time Sky Sports Italy and their reporter, Gianluca Di Marzio was adamant that Cerci had said yes to Milan. Early this evening the affirmative answer was confirmed which now closes Torres moving to Atletico. Early indications suggest that he may even make his debut on January 7th in the Copa del Rey game against Real Madrid.
Cerci, who joined Atletico lat in the summer, has not found a place in Diego Simeone’s team, only playing nine times for the Madrid based club. He’s participated in 6 league games, 1 cup game and two Champions League ties, where he scored one goal against Swedish side, Malmo.
