Fifteen FCB stars on international duty

The 51st Bundesliga season has only just got underway, but this week sees the first round of internationals of the new season. In between the first two Bundesliga fixtures, a host of friendly matches take place around the globe on Wednesday. No fewer than 15 Bayern players are set to feature in eight international clashes.

Germany coach Joachim Löw’s 21-strong squad for the meeting with Paraguay in Kaiserslautern includes four FCB men.
Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Jerome Boateng and
Thomas Müller form the treble winners’ contingent. On this occasion, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Götze are absent as they continue to regain full fitness, while Toni Kroos is expecting to become a father this week and is excused duty.
This week's schedule includes two head-to-heads between Munich team-mates.
Daniel van Buyten and Belgium entertain France and
Franck Ribéry in Brussels, while
Xherdan Shaqiri and Switzerland host a prestige clash with Brazil and their Confederations Cup winners
Dante and
Luiz Gustavo in Basel.
David Alaba and Austria are at home to Greece in Salzburg, but
Arjen Robben and
Mario Mandzukic represent their countries in away fixtures. The Netherlands and Arjen take on Portugal in Faro, with Mario and Croatia travelling to Vaduz for the meeting with Liechtenstein.
Three of the Bayern men have a long way to travel. World and European champion
Javi Martinez and U–21 European champion
Thiago travel with their Spain team-mates to South America for a meeting with hosts Ecuador in Guayaquil. Peru and
Claudio Pizarro have even further to go, as the Andean team take on Korea Republic in Suwon.
