Espanyol Announce Smiljanic Deal Espanyol have announced that they have agreed a deal to sign Milan Smiljanic from FK Partizan and expect the player to undergo a medical next week.
The Barcelona-based outfit have been holding talks with the Serbian club over the past few weeks about the highly-rated midfielder and have now finalised the move.
Smiljanic is now expected to travel to the Catalan capital to undergo a medical and put pen-to-paper on a contract.
"The contract between the clubs is finalised and Smiljanic has agreed terms," Espanyol president, Daniel Sánchez Llibre, confirmed.
"Now he is with his team in Holland and I expect him to come here on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week."
The arrival of Smiljanic marks the end of Espanyol's summer spending after bringing in five new faces, including Valdo from Osasuna and Clemente Rodríguez from Spartak Moscow.
"There will be no more signings now," Llibre added.
Espanyol could still allow a number of players to leave with the futures of Sergio Sánchez, Mquel Robusté, Jonathan Soriano and Gokra Iraizoz up in the air.
Iraizoz is wanted by Athletic Bilbao, but the presidential elections at San Mamés have held up any negotiations for the goalkeeper.
"There is nothing new about Iraizoz's situation," Llibre stated. "Athletic Bilbao are interested, but the new president, Fernando García Macua, has not said anything to me.
Raúl Tamudo ha also been linked with a move away from the club with Villarreal announcing their interest, but Llibre is hopeful that the striker will sign a new deal at the Estadi Olímpic.
"All these things are in Pedro Tomás' and Paco Herrera's hand. If I have to speak to a player's agent then I will do that," Llibre concluded.
