MUPC Champions of the World - Dinamo Zagreb

Dinamo Zagreb are celebrating their 2-1 win over Group B rivals AC Milan this evening, after beating the Italian giants at Old Trafford's 'Theatre of Dreams' to become 2013 Manchester United Premier Cup Champions of the World.
In a hard fought match, Borovec from Dinamo Zagreb opened the scoreline in the first half, with a searing shot into the net worthy of his Old Trafford debut, before Agnero from Milan cancelled it out, just three minutes later. The match was even, and hard fought, until extra time when, with penalties approaching, Lovren scored the final goal of the competition, securing the match, and the Championship trophy for Dinamo Zagreb.
Manchester United first team player Chicharito made the on-pitch presentations to both teams, following the curtain raiser to the Rio Ferdinand Testimonial. After congratulating both teams on reaching the final at Old Trafford, Chicharito advised the youngsters to "hold on to their dreams" and continue to play every game with passion.
"I remember my own MUPC experience so well, but we didn't win the national final, so my team didn't get to come to Manchester that year. These final two teams are so lucky to play at the best stadium in the world. It is an incredible experience and a wonderful opportunity at such a young age. Make the most of every match, of every experience, and enjoy your football.'"
The winning Coach Coach Krešimir Gojun. was of course delighted with his teams' performance, which saw them hold their nerve to score the winning goal in extra time:
"I have been through every emotion in the last few hours," he said, speaking at Old Trafford, "My stomach feels tight and I can hardly explain how I feel. I am so happy for this incredible team. They are really skillful and a few are exceptionally talented, but most of all they have the right attitude, they have such strong characters, they work hard and enjoy their football. This whole experience has been so amazing, from winning our national finals in Croatia, then the European Qualifiers and now, to stand here at Old Trafford as World Champions, is just amazing".
Since Nike founded the tournament back in 1993, almost two million young hopefuls have dreamed of showcasing their talents on the world stage, and the stage at Old Trafford is one of the biggest in the world.
As Bryan Robson said on Monday night at the opening draw: "Play every game with passion and a determination to win. Work hard - as part of your team - and give it your best shot. Then win, lose or draw, you will have done your best. No-one can ask more than that."
All the young teams at this years World Finals did just that. And whilst it is hugely disappointing for all those teams who didn't make the Final, all of them have learned from the experience and had the opportunity to play against, and learn from, some of the brightest young stars of their generation.
But for now, congratulations to the 2013 Manchester United Premier Cup Champions of the World, Dinamo Zagreb.
