Midsummer and finally a long weekend. Since the weather in Austria is not going to get any better anyway, the longer trip to Macedonia, a Balkan country that was new to me, fit into the calendar even better. Sun, sun and more sun as it should be awaited us there. And of course also football here and there. On Fridays, however, the focus was entirely on culture, as the ball rested here and there. Probably because there is hardly any floodlight anywhere in a stadium anyway. So they did a few laps through Skopje. In the zoo, up the city park to the fortress. Then in the Albanian part of the old town where you could even climb the old clock tower using the Petruskey. The more expensive restaurants were then left and the Skenderbeu monument was passed over the stone bridge into the Macedonian part of the city. The main square there is being modernized, as is much in this part of the city. From the old train station with the destroyed clock, which still shows the earthquake time 5:19 in the 1960s, they were also seen at the Mother Theresa house before they gave themselves up to the culinary arts. Meat dishes of all kinds and skopso in good quantities should accompany us for the next few days anyway. At the end of the day, when the illuminated Skopje knew how to please, they found a club that ended the day perfectly. Round dance around the table with local music was the order of the day, plus the best atmosphere in the bar without disco pounding, Skospo again - perfect. Little sleep for the Saturday trip to Tetovo was guaranteed. The bus from the bus station took them to the Albanian part of Macedonia. Tetovo is one of the Albanian strongholds in the western part and therefore quite interesting. Even if the social and emotional tensions between Albanians and Macedonia are still omnipresent, the situation of living together is reasonably well clarified and stable. Unlike, for example, still in the Kosovo area. In Tetovo you walked around quite well and got an impression before football was finally on the agenda. The FK Renova, a suburb club met the team from Stip. The second largest stadium in Macedonia, which is already quite “used”, is currently home to 3 teams from the Prva Liga. Teteks, Skandija and Renova, so they always play, so to speak. But no game will ever take place here internationally. In addition, everything is already too dilapidated or there is a lack of basic equipment. Entry was 100 Maz Denar, a good 1.5 euros, no more than 500 responded to the call of this game that took place in intense heat. On the other hand, little happened and goals didn't want to fall like that. So it stayed at 0-0, and while the Skendija fans were already gathering for the bus for the evening game in the capital against Rabotnicki - we made our way back to the capital. The next kick should then take place in the national stadium in the evening.
