Eduardo signs new long-term contract
Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Eduardo has signed a new long-term contract with the Club.
Eduardo
(26), who joined the Gunners from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in July
2007, made an impressive start for Arsenal, scoring 12 goals from 22
First Team starts in his debut season with the Club.
The
Croatian striker was also prolific during his early career with Dinamo
Zagreb, where he netted 73 times in 111 appearances. This fine goal
scoring form has been replicated at International level, where he has
now scored 18 goals from his 28 international appearances, including a
brace in Croatia's 5-0 friendly win over Liechtenstein at the weekend.
Since
joining Arsenal, Eduardo (full name Eduardo Alves da Silva) has now
made 48 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 18 goals and also showing
huge courage and bravery to recover from a serious leg and ankle
injury, which ruled him out of action for almost a year.
Eduardo
overcame this adversity with great attitude and commitment, eventually
returning to action by scoring two goals in the 4-0 FA Cup win over
Cardiff City in February, completing a long journey to recovery for the
striker.
Arsene Wenger said: "We're delighted that Eduardo has
signed a new long-term contract with us. Eduardo is a special player
with huge talent and natural goal scoring ability, and we're all so
happy that he has committed his future to Arsenal Football Club.
"We
have also seen in his come back from injury, Eduardo is a human being
full of courage, bravery and commitment. His full recovery from this
injury is a testament to Eduardo's character. We all look forward to
enjoying Eduardo's performances in an Arsenal shirt for a long time to
come."
Eduardo said: "I am very pleased to have signed a new
long contract with the Club. I'm very happy and I hope to stay at
Arsenal for as long as I can. This period is good for me now. I feel
strong in my body and I feel ready to play 90 minutes every three days
if it's needed.
"I went to Croatia last week and everybody was
telling me Arsenal play the best football in Europe at the moment. I
agree with that. We feel we are strong now this season and we're all
going to give everything to win trophies."
Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is looking forward to Eduardo's continued contribution in the forthcoming years.

Hrvatski igrači u inozemstvu - sezona 2010/11
Evo neki komentara od navijace Tottenhama (o Kranjcar protiv Wigana):
- Kranjcar reminded me a little of the great frenchman today in the way he ran with the ball, the quality of his deliveries and even the way he liked to cut in and shoot. Not saying he is quite of that ilk, but he has a similar verve about him. Also tackled very well. 9.
- Kranjcar - 10 (Almost like watching Ginola on the left again. Superb)
- Kranjcar - 10 Phenomenal. We won't miss Modric that much if he plays like this regularly. Really deserved his goal, got an assist, some beautiful through balls, crossfield passes, lovely skills and lots of good defensive work - I'm going to give him my MOTM because obviously most will go for JD/AL and on most days he would have walked it.
- Kranjcar 10 - Made 2 great defensive interceptions in the first half. Awesome technique, some great passes (i recall a cross with the side of his foot that was an immense bit of skill), but the thing I like the most is his work rate. He kept pressing in last ten minutes with the same enthousiasm and desire. Top class. Arry's going to have a luxury problem when Luka is fit again.
- Kranjcar was on another planet today. Same planet as Lennon and Defoe though!
- Krancjar could be a special player for us. If he carries on like he has been, it could be a midfield of Lennon, Palacios, Modric and krancjar. I know that means no Hudd or JJ but that midfield looks tasty.
- Harry said on motd that kranjcar was fantastic. He's right. Kranjcar was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to watch him and Modric in the same side.
- Also, after watching the highlights just now, krancjar was even more amazing than I thought. He was unbelievable today.
- Kranjcar 9.6 - 54 passes, skill, goal, and constantly invloved in the game. I'm glad Redknapp singled him out for special praise.
- Kranjcar was man of the match for me. Obviously Defoe and Lennon would appear to have done more with 6 goals and 3 assists between them, but I thought Niko controlled the whole game. Passing was superb, he got stuck in, put balls in the box, linked with the front two, tracked back, couldn't have done any more. Huddlestone was another stand out performer.
- The way Kranjcar was praised by Harry in both Sky and BBC interviews, i think its safe to say he will be the first name on the teamsheet, along with Lennon and Defoe. That means itll have to be between Keane and Crouch for the second strikers place. I reckon we may see the same line up next week, which excites me greatly!! :)
- Kranjcar, Defoe and Lennon all deserve a 10 for yesterday (I quickly adjusted my Defoe 9.5 rating!) Never have I seen 3 attacking players come together so wonderfully in one game before, ably assisted by Crouch, Hudd and Palacios.
