Luka Modric

There was only really ever one winner for this and with a huge 77% of the vote, Luka Modric is the SC Player of the year. The little Croatian has been outstanding all season and has really become the heartbeat of the team. Playing in a more central role this season he's been integral to everything good that we have done. Drawing praise from all areas of football, we really are lucky to have this fine player in our team.

The midfield maestro took the prestigious award voted for by our Supporters Clubs worldwide.

Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto also picked up awards as Supporters Clubs from America to Australia, the Isle of Wight and closer to home in the UK were represented at the Supporters Clubs Awards at the training ground.

The fans watched training before the ceremony.

Luka’s outstanding performances in midfield secured the Player of the Season Award, presented by Darren Marsh of the Swindon Spurs Supporters Club.

"I'm delighted to receive this award and I'd like to thank all the supporters for voting for me," Luka told the supporters.

"It means a lot to me and I'm really happy to win it.

"I've enjoyed the season, especially as it was the first time we played in the Champions League.

"We all hoped to finish in the top four again but we will now try to beat Birmingham to finish fifth and play in the Europa League."
