Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson says he is excited by the potential of Foxes-bound striker Andrej Kramaric, ahead of the Croatian sensation’s proposed move to King Power Stadium.

Kramaric, one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe, has agreed terms with City ahead of a move from HNK Rijeka, which will be signed subject to Andrej’s work permit application being approved.

The 23-year-old frontman has scored an astonishing 28 goals in 24 appearances for club and country this season, bringing him to the attention of some of the continent’s most famous clubs.

And while he will not be available to face Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League this weekend, Pearson hopes to have Kramaric, who watched his new team-mates train at Belvoir Drive on Thursday, available before long.

“He is a player we have had on the radar for a while,” Pearson said during Thursday’s press conference ahead of the visit of Villa.

“It really is important for us to strengthen and, providing everything goes the way we would like it to, he’ll be a really exciting addition to the squad.

“We have a strong case with his international status and his form, internationally and at club level, but of course it is subject to us obtaining the work permit.

“It’s never easy to get these situations finalised, but I have been very impressed with him as a person and I think he will be a very important signing for us.”

Kramaric’s incredible form in the Croatian top flight and the UEFA Europa League has alerted some of Europe’s elite to his burgeoning talent.

And Pearson feels his desire to come and apply his talents to a Club in the situation Leicester currently find themselves in tells its own story.

“Clearly his goal-scoring record speaks for itself,” Nigel said.

“He has good energy levels and the very fact there has been interest from some very big clubs highlights a player who is highly rated domestically and certainly across Europe.

"It speaks volumes of the lad that he is keen to play a very positive part for us and help improve our current position in the Barclays Premier League.”
