Freddy Adu is aiming to use his upcoming training stint with Manchester United to secure a permanent move to Old Trafford.
The American teenager is expected to arrive in Manchester this weekend to spend a fortnight training with the Premiership leaders.
He has been given permission by his MLS club DC United to link up with The Red Devils, having also attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.
But the 17-year-old has suggested he would relish the chance to earn a contract with United and is champing at the bit to train with the club.
"To go to one of the world's biggest clubs and get a chance to train is an honour and a privilege," Adu is quoted by the Daily Express.
"Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are two of my favourite players and getting the chance to train with them will be unbelievable.
"Hopefully this will lead to an offer in January or in the summer transfer window next year.
"That would be awesome.
"I hope I can show flashes of the kind of player I can become."
