"Nije problem izgubiti, doživio sam i teške poraze, a nikada nikome nisam ništa rekao.

Team of the week

Marco Bizot, Brest

Brest's Dutchman became the first goalkeeper for nine months to keep a clean sheet against PSV, earning praise from the UEFA match observer for his "strength in the air, confidence with his distribution and all-round excellence". According to the observer, he made "four top-class saves" and "his reflexes and reading of the game gave Brest the foundation to score the opening goal against the run of play".

Nordi Mukiele, Leverkusen

His late winner for Leverkusen was his first goal for the club – indeed his first in three years – and it was also the first conceded by Inter in six matches of this league phase. His defensive work was significant too, with Leverkusen's French loanee making 13 ball recoveries, six of them in the opposition half.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Celtic

The American was pivotal to Celtic's strong defensive showing in their goalless draw in Zagreb. "It was a solid performance with good distribution and leadership shown," said the match observer of the centre-back. "He was very good in the air and stepped forward with the ball well." To underline this last point, he ended the night with 106 open-play passes and a passing accuracy of 94%.

Antonio Rüdiger, Real Madrid

The German centre-back was as fiercely competitive as ever in the holders' hard-fought victory in Bergamo, his shift featuring 16 defensive actions, including four pressure regains, as well as five ball recoveries. He also came out on top in three one v one duels, showcasing his unrelenting will to win once more.

Andy Robertson, Liverpool

Robertson shone in leaders Liverpool's latest win, earning praise from the match observer for his "energy up and down the pitch, in both creating chances and defending well. He always gave his team-mates an option by overlapping and creating width". The numbers underline the scale of his contribution, not least his two key passes and 15 ball recoveries – seven in the Girona half.

Youri Tielemans, Aston Villa

The Belgian provided midfield balance, influencing the game with and without the ball. His night's work contained one assist and five key passes, and the match observer applauded a work rate that yielded nine ball recoveries, five counter-pressure regains and five pressure regains. "He bossed the game," said the observer, "and was always available with his clever tactical movements."

Angelo Stiller, Stuttgart

The Stuttgart midfielder displayed his ability to get into advanced positions when scoring his side's opening goal against Young Boys. As well as a goal and a key pass, he worked hard defensively, impressing the match observer with his ability to break things up, ending the game with 17 ball recoveries – seven in the opposition half.

Bukayo Saka, Arsenal

The England winger was Arsenal's decisive attacking player in the home victory over Monaco, scoring two goals and laying on the assist for the other, for Kai Havertz. He fulfilled his defensive duties also with nine ball recoveries, four counter-pressure regains and three pressure regains.

Michael Olise, Bayern

The match observer lauded Olise as "a player with perfect control of the ball, who makes a difference in every part of the field" and that was not just for his two goals in the 5-1 win at Shakhtar but also for his dribbling ability and work out of possession – witness 11 ball recoveries, six counter-pressure regains and two regains in pressure situations.

Igor Paixão, Feyenoord

Feyenoord's Brazilian winger excelled in the 4-2 win over Sparta, scoring his first Champions League goal, producing two key passes and providing a constant threat to the visitors' defence. With clearances and interceptions, he did a defensive job too, summed up by his seven ball recoveries.

Antoine Griezmann, Atleti

Atleti's 'Little Prince' is a player in a state of grace right now, his two goals against Slovan meaning he has seven from his last five games. He was the difference-maker once more and his classy attacking endeavours were complemented by ball-winning work that included four regains.
