Odigrana je prva utakmica 18. kola engleske Premier lige, a nogometaši Manchester Uniteda su na svom Old Traffordu s 1:0 bili bolji od Newcastlea.

Utakmica je odlučena u 24. minuti odličnim potezom Dorgua koji je padajuću loptu lijepo zahvatio poluvolej udarcem i s 15 metara je pospremio u mrežu. Manchester United je odlučio u nastavku braniti se i prijetiti iz kontranapad, dok je Newcastle sustavno stiskao suparnika i tražio izjednačenje.

Domaćin je ipak odolio svim naletima suparnika, preživio je sve opasne šanse Newcastlea i na kraju slavio 1:0. Ova je pobjeda odvela Manchester United na peto mjesto ljestvice.

U subotu će igrati Nottingham Forest - Manchester City, Arsenal - Brighton, Brentford - Bournemouth, Burnley - Everton, Liverpool - Wolverhampton, West Ham - Fulham i Chelsea - Aston Villa, dok su nedjeljni parovi Sunderland - Leeds i Crystal Palace - Tottenham.
