Puma u Tate galeriji
PUMA are renowned for pioneering creative Partnerships and have a solid commitment to supporting art and design through various programmes. Earlier this year PUMA were approached to be involved in the latest Tate Britain Duveens Commission by Turner Prize winner Martin Creed.
Work No. 850 centres on the simple idea: that a person will sprint as fast as they can every 30 seconds through the 86 metre gallery, at the heart of Tate Britain. Each run is followed by an equivalent pause, like a musical rest, during which the gallery is empty. Celebrating physicality and the human spirit, Work No.850 investigates the body’s flow of nature and presents the beauty of human movement in the purist form.
PUMA have sponsored Work No. 850 by providing the RUNNING apparel and performance footwear for all the runners taking part throughout the duration of the exhibition.
"PUMA were thrilled to be asked by Martin Creed and Tate Britain to be involved in this exciting art work. PUMA Running is a fast growing category for the brand and we are delighted to be included in the project. PUMA continues to support art and artists through various partnerships and to be working with Martin and the Tate Britain is a fantastic opportunity.", Jochen Zeitz PUMA CEO
Martin Creed was born in Wakefield, England in 1968. He studied at the Slade School of Art, London from 1986-1990. He currently lives and works in London. In 2001 he was awarded the Turner Prize for a number of solo exhibitions that demonstrated 'the rigour and purity of his work and its characteristic mixture of seriousness and humour.
Tate Britain are looking to recruit a motivated team of runners who are extremely physically fit both in terms of running at speed and endurance to be part of Martin Creed’s Work No. 850 which opened at Tate Britain on 1 July and runs until the 16th November 2008.
You will be expected to sprint for a distance of approximately 86 metres through the gallery. You must be able to complete the 86 metre sprint in less than 15 seconds. At the end of the sprint you will walk back to the start point and repeat the sprint approximately every 2 minutes (ie around 15 sprints) during a 1 hour period maintaining a consistent speed for each sprint.
For the core team of runners Tate and Martin Creed are looking for a minimum commitment of 4 x 1 hours sessions per day with rest breaks in between. You will need to be able to commit to at least 3 days a week (could include weekends) until 16 November 2008.
If you cannot make a regular commitment each week Tate have opportunities to join a casual pool of Runners who will be offered running shifts on an adhoc basis to cover gaps in the rota or to undertake additional shifts for events in the evenings.
If you would like to join the team of runners and be part of the exhibition please log onto the link below for more information and to apply directly to Tate Britain.

All runners that take part will receive PUMA footwear and apparel to wear for the duration of the exhibition. The Martin Creed exhibition Work No.850 is run entirely by Tate Britain.
