Machida intervju sa Brazilskog.

Interviewer – Start - In the end you didn’t came out with the victory. But it was the time i saw you most motivated for a fight. Is that what you really felt? You were confident it was possible to beat Jones?

Machida – 0:21 – I was confident that i was going to win. I trained a lot to this. But sometimes we can’t preview what’s going to happen in a fight. I was fighting good when the elbow turned things. My vision was blurred after that. I couldn’t see straight.
I kept fighting on automatic mode. I was conscious but my vision was very blurred. Then we traded some punchs and he caught me in the guillotine.
I was trying to get out of the guillotine all the time.

Interviewer – 1:15 Was it a new submission? Have you ever seen Jones doing that guillotine?

Machida – 1:18 – I never saw him doing it. But i’ve seen people doing it before. But i imagined that he could try it. He is very tall and this facilitates that move. So i couldn’t get out. Now i’ll wait for a next opportunity. I will keep in my way and that’s what matters now.

Interviewer – 1:41 – In the first round your gameplan was working right? That was what you have planned for the fight?

Machida – 1:56 – Yes. That was what we planned. Strike with him. I knew i could be faster than him. Probably hit him more. But a fight is a fight. That’s why MMA that captivates so many people. Sometimes you are winning and your oponnent comeback.
For example Rodrigo (Big Nog), who was winning the fight and ended loosing.
What matter’s now is that we keep on our way.

Interviewer 2:25 – Having fought Jones, what you have to say about him? Everyone talks that he is the GOAT (he actually said “bogeyman”, a usual term in brazil for a guy who can beat everybody) and all that things. He had never lost a round before this fight. You clearly won that first round (eventhough 2 judges didn’t agree). But anyone who followed the fight and know about MMA know that you won that round. Is he really the “bogeyman” everyone thinks he is? Is he really unbeatable? Or you showed a possible way to beat him yesterday?

Machida - 2:55 – Jones is a great Champion. I have no excuses for my loss. He really was the better man yesterday. I was winning but he managed to get back and he is really a Champion. But i don’t think anyone is unbeatable. That anyone is the “bogeyman”.
I believe that every day is a different day. Depending on the day, on the strategy, on the opponent i think he can be defeated. Nothing like one day after another.

Interviewer – 3:35 – So you think the cut was the defining moment of the fight? Until he took you down you were dominating and the cut blurred your vision.

Machida – 3:45 – Yes. When the cut was open the judge stopped the fight to see it but there was no time to recover. My vision was blurred. I don’t know if it was the blood or the impact of the strike. After this i was just trying to take the fight to the 3rd round. If the fight went to round 3 i could stop the bleeding, use one minute to recover from the strike. Maybe i could have a better chance. But it’s not useful to think what could have happened. We have to think on what have happened.

Interviewer – 4:40 – Did Big Nog’s fight have any impact in your fight? Since he is a good friend, was dominating the fight and ended up loosing like that (with a severe injury)? How was to watch that fight minutes before fighting?

Machida – 4:55 – It was tought. Rodrigo is a good friend. We were in the same room watching (the brazilians i think). Everyone saw that scene and was very shocked with what happened. But we were trying to focus on our job. I was trying to look at things in a professional way. We were really focused in the fight.

Interviewer – 5:38 – What’s next for you? Are you taking some time off? Do you know when you are fighting again?

Machida – 5:43 – I will rest for a while now. The training camp was almost 9 weeks of very intense work. I was very fit and ready. Now i need some time to recover. I plan to comeback in 2012 and search for my objectives.

Interviewer – 6:13 – The belt?

Machida – 6:15 – Yes. We want to be Champions again. Even if that takes a while. But right now that doesn’t matter. We have to live every moment and that’s what i’m going to do in 2012.

Interviewer – 6:25 – Now a curiosity. Some people said that you were sick going to the fight. But i talked to your father and he said you weren’t sick. Paulo Afonso also said you weren’t sick. I know it’s not good to say you are sick before a fight. I tought you looked very good yesterday. Did you have any injury or other problem coming to that fight?

Machida – 6:45 – No. I was fine. 100%

Interviewer – 6:47 – They were just rumours then?

Machida – 6:48 – Yes. I was feeling very good. I was at 100%. I was 100% physically, mentally and technically. Unfortunately i lost this time.

Interviewer – 7:00 – Ok. Send a message to your fans. I know a lot of people sent support messages for you. It’s not easy getting the best fighter out there in the moment. Send your message.

Machida - 7:16 – I would like to thank my fans for all the support. Not only on the fight, but during all training camp. Many people doubted my work but my fans were with me.
Losing and winning are 2 sides from the same coin. You have to prepare yourself for this. And i will be ready for my next fight, that might even happen in Brazil!
