[QUOTE]Dalibor Bagaric decided Saturday that since he couldn't play after being put back on the injured list, he wasn't going to work out before the game against the San Antonio Spurs.
That didn't go over well with assistant coach Bob Thornton, who works out the big men before each game. Thornton stormed out of the dressing room after having words with Bagaric. Rick Brunson and Roger Mason Jr. are the other two players on the injured list, and both work out before each game.
"It's frustrating being on the injured list all the time,'' Bagaric said. "I'm never late for practice or anything. I'm a professional, and I don't know why Bill Cartwright won't give me a chance, except during garbage time.''
Bagaric, who's in his third season, has played only 24 minutes over three games this season. That's why it was surprising when Jerry Krause in August ***ed up the $1.2 million option for Bagaric's fourth season. Krause could have let Bagaric become a free agent, then signed him for half as much, assuming no other team was interested.
"I'm sure I can play in this league,'' Bagaric said. "If I can't play here, then maybe I'll play somewhere else. I'm sure Jerry believes I can play because he ***ed up [the contract for] next year. But it's really hard for me to stay patient. Patience is an old story now.''
Krause often has said the 7-1, 290-pound Bagaric is a project, and he's still young at 22. But Bagaric is getting impatient with the speed of the process. He said he has talked to Cartwright, but it was to no avail.
"Every time it's something,'' Bagaric said. "I'm the guy who's worked and done everything but play.
"Something has to change.''
