I think Doc is currently holding him back a ton. The team and coaches love to blow smoke and talk about how dominant Zubac will be, but in reality he rarely touches the court in the 2nd half and never has a CHANCE to show his full level of play. Doc tends to run Harrell 20+ minutes in 2nd halves at C, which is weird, especially when the team is giving up runs on D. PG, Kawhi, Lou and others have come out recently saying Zubac will be a star. It's clear that Kawhi has way better chemistry with Zubac at C than Harrell.
Everything about Zubac's per minute/possession stats and metrics show a star who's being underplayed. We saw this with DeAndre Jordan under Del Negro too. A guy has eye popping numbers and efficiency, yet hardly plays. Then when given the chance, explodes. I don't see why defensively Zubac can't anchor a defense like Marc Gasol does, although offensively he will never match Gasol. Do you think the data is misleading? Or useful, considering it's consistent over the last 3 years?
Zubac per 36: 16 ppg, 15 rpg, 2 apg, 2 bpg.
Some metrics to look at: 135 ORTG/105 DRTG BBALL REF, 113 ORTG/104 DRTG nba.com (absurd net ratings there), WS/48 .240 (superstar tier), #1 in the NBA in screen efficiency (players score off his screens at a higher % than anyone else), #1 in offensive rebounding percentage, #2 in rim defense numbers for qualified players (sandwiched between the Lopez twins). His PER Is 22. I mean a lot of metrics leave clues that he's got HUGE impact and isn't playing enough. Do you think Doc figures this out sooner than later? Or is it a situation where it's going to take the right coach to appreciate his skillset as a defensive anchor/rim runner/screener?
