Hello again,
it's me, Erik from Germany. I am back from Zagreb and as promised before I will report a bit about my experiences last weekend. So, what can I say? We (a friend of mine and me) arrived on Saturday around 17h, so it was too late to see Dinamo vs. Zadar, but this was okay because I didn't expect to. After visting the beautiful city, with its green parts in the lower part and its nice houses, streets and curches in the upper part, we had a good night with much Ozujsko
Sunday was finally football time: After checking the kick-off-time (just to get sure - and of course you were right with 15.30h) we took the train to Sesvete. From the station we walked just as you told us beforde - and what can I say, it was perfect: After 20 minutes we reached the stadium of NK Croatia Sesvete and took a seat at the nice old wooden stand together with around 350 people (although in the newspaper I read 1000 next day?).
While eating some pumpkin seeds (of course), we saw an absolutely nice match. The pitch was very wet and deep, and Croatia seemed to have some problems with this. So Novalja took the early lead and by halftime was up 2-0. After the break Novalja proved to deserve being on top of the league and had some beautiful attacks, taking them to a 5-0 lead, before in extra-time Sesvete had their "goal of honour", as we say in Germany. My favourite player in the match was Novaljas Nr. 10, a Brazilian I guess, who was allowed to leave the match after 70 minutes because he had done a perfect job before.
So all in all we enjoyed the match. Watching football while the sun is shining - just perfect! After the final whistle we walked back to the station, had a nice evening (again
and an interesting Monday in the city, before flying back to Germany yesterday (Tuesday), just to see my team (Borussia Mönchengladbach) losing 0-3 in Bochum...
So, what else can I say for helping me enjoying this weekend in Zagreb and Sesvete than just HVALA !!!
Erik
