Zdravo, fans of Hajduk Split. It took me a few minutes to find the register link, and a while for my confirmation e-mail to come through.
I'm looking forward to our game in a couple of weeks; you're one of the toughest teams we could have hoped to have drawn, but it couldn't be a more exciting way to start our first European campaign in nearly 40 years.
Our manager, Tony Pulis is very thorough with his pre-season preparations (and everything he does, it seems). He likes to have us prepared for the start of the league season so I think in the back of his mind he'll see this as a distraction to those preparations. If the match was two weeks into the start of our season, and not two weeks before, I'd see us as favourites...BUT he doesn't like losing and demands 100% effort from his players at all times. With the Premier League being our priority I'm not even sure we'll play a full strength side, though if we play to our best, I'm confident we'll win, but it's football, so who knows.
We have one of the best winger pairings in the country with Pennant and Etherington, and Walters will probably cause you a lot of problems up front. Huth and Shawcross are usually pretty solid at the back too. I saw some of your media mentioning Salif Diao as one to watch, but he's just a guaranteed yellow card these days. If he plays in the away leg I'd expect him to do a good job either side of his yellow card. I'm hoping we sign at least two or three more players before the deadline to register our squad for this competition.
If you're flying over to England, you have plenty of choices of airport. Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham and Liverpool are all within one hour away. London is 100 minutes on train but at such short notice train tickets will probably be expensive (they're cheaper the earlier you buy them over here). If I were you guys and you won't be driving I'd fly to Manchester or Birmingham if you can as the train stations are near to the airport. Here's a site for cheaply priced train tickets: www.redspottedhanky.com
I've been to Split before, it's a nice city in a stunning location. And a bit further away, but when it's not so busy, Plitvicka Jezera National Park is one of my favourite places in Europe. :)
