BREAKING: Arsene Wenger divorces his wife Annie

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has separated from his wife Annie, according to reports.

Per Jonathan Reilly in the Sun, the couple, who were in long-term relationship before marrying in 2010, have split after a prolonged period of unhappiness in their marriage.

Papers have reportedly been filed in Frenchman Wenger’s hometown of Strasbourg that show “they have not been together since June of this year,” according to Tom Sheen in the Independent.

Sheen also notes “the ‘separe du corps’ that has been signed is not a full divorce.” Wenger, 65, will be expected to provide financial support to 59-year-old Annie. The couple have an 18-year-old daughter, Leah.

A Sun source indicated the pair have agreed the financial terms of their separation, per Reilly: “They have divided up their assets and agreed a financial package to separate. They have not been happy for a while, and they decided this was the best course of action to take.”

A French legal expert also told the newspaper that, by the terms of the agreement, the couple are no longer required to live together and “if the judgment is not overturned within two years, a divorce will be automatically granted.”

Wenger has previously spoken of the strain his job put on his relationship with his wife.

In 2008 he admitted to having previously promised Annie he would quit as Gunners boss, per Sheen:

Ten years ago I said to my wife [Annie], ‘Five more years and that’s all’, and I am still here. It is difficult to find time to see them but there are jobs [which are worse]. You have guys who leave for work on Monday and come back on Friday. In my job I travel, but the problem is not so much the quantity of time you spend with your family, it is the quality.

 

Seven years on from those comments and Wenger is still manager at Arsenal after almost two decades in charge—he joined the north London club in 1996.

 

In May of last year he extended his contract further and is now tied to the club until 2017.

Arsenal to announce second L3m payment to Stan Kroenke's company amid fan unrest over transfer inactivity

The payment is believed to be in relation to advisory 'services' that Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) have provided in the last year.

A separate L3 million payment made to the same company last year was defended by the club's directors after shareholders and supporters groups questioned why such a sizeable amount of money had been paid.

Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick attempted to explain why the payment was made at last year's general meeting, citing KSE's reputation and the various different services it provides to the club.

“This fee was proposed by myself and Lord Harris [another director] for the wide range of services provided,” he said, according to The Telegraph.

“KSE is one of the most respected and successful sports organisations in the United States, operating in the most sophisticated sports business market in the world," Keswick continued.

"They have an extensive and long experience in modern sports management. It is of the utmost importance that, as a club, we use it to our best advantage to ensure we keep progressing. There was no competitive tender for these services as they are directly available to us. We are entirely satisfied the fee was appropriate.”

Many Arsenal supporters will believe the fee could have been used for other purposes and have recently been critical of the club's lack of activity in the transfer market. Arsene Wenger was the only manager in each of Europe's five major leagues not to sign an outfield player this summer, despite his side's lack of options in key areas, especially up front.

However, the money kept in reserve will reportedly be available to Wenger when the transfer window opens again in January. Reports last week suggested that Arsenal have L193.1m in cash reserves, although much of this is used to cover costs and liabilities, not solely for player acquisitions.

Gabriel: Arsenal defender wins appeal against red card

Arsenal's appeal against defender Gabriel's red card during Saturday's defeat by Chelsea has been successful.

Gabriel, 24, was sent off by referee Mike Dean for violent conduct after a clash with Diego Costa during the Blues' 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

The successful appeal means he will now not serve a three-match suspension.

The Brazilian is subject to a separate Football Association charge of improper conduct to which he has until 18:00 BST on Thursday to respond.

That relates to him failing to leave the pitch immediately after being sent off.

Chelsea striker Costa, meanwhile, was found guilty of violent conduct and banned for three matches following a clash with Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.

ah, jbg, više bi me čudilo da pričaju o tome kako ima savršen i skladan brak nego ovo... sav je rastresen, očito ne može hvatati sve konce.. samo je pitanje hoće li uprava čekati dok skroz propadne, ili će napraviti rez... mislio sam reći ''na vrijeme'', but that ship has already sailed... al bar dok još uvijek nije gadno.

osvježavajuće je vidjeti izbalansiranu ekipu arsenala na terenu.. 3 prava veznjaka, okolo dva prava krila.. ovo mi sviđa sa cambpellom i oxom, dva brza igrača, na ''suprotnim nogama''... ljepše mi ovo vidjeti, nego onu brljotinu klasičnu wengerovu..
