Roma's Perrotta breaks down

Roma midfielder Simone Perrotta has broken down at training with an ankle injury.

Perrotta had already suffered a problem with his left ankle in December and limped off looking disconsolate after receiving a knock in yesterday's training game.

The initial diagnosis is a sprain and there will be more tests over the next few days to ascertain the extent of the damage.

If the sprain is confirmed, then it's unlikely Perrotta will recover in time for the Champions League showdown with Olympique Lyonnais on February 21.

Roma four signings short - Spalletti

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti admits his squad is four quality signings short of being major championship contender.

Spalletti said: "We have done all we can this season. The problem is that Inter has a roster that is impossible to match. Perhaps Roma could have done better against some weaker opponents - on paper - but Inter's consistency has been fundamental this season.

"In order to be competitive, we need to make three or four signings. It's the quality players that make the difference."
