CHINESE MULTIMILLIONAIRE TO PUT CAPITAL INTO CLUB

Atlético "sign" Wang Jianlin

Atlético de Madrid and Wang Jianlin have for some time been discussing the incorporation of the Chinese multimillionaire into the club. The operation has been conducted with absolute discretion, and no specific details have yet leaked out, but the one certain thing is that the agreement whereby Jianlin will put capital into the club is now sealed, and is regarded as an essential factor in the future development of the club.

The organisation's plan was to announce it as soon as possible, but for that to happen a global process will have to be completed. This comprises both the recently completed capital expansion as well as what will take place over the next few months.

Jianlin is the owner of one of the biggest companies in the world., but this deal is not a question of selling the club (as is the case with Valencia and Peter Lim, who incidentally was also interested in owning Atlético through certain loans that he granted), but according to inside sources, strengthening it.

Although he may not be the club's new owner, it is clear that he will take part in its management - it remains to be seen whether directly or through trusted men on the Board of Directors - because there is no way he is going to put capital in without having a say in what is done with it. He will thus contribute to the growth of the club and the reduction of its debts.

Peter Kenyon, Atlético's newest recruit

Atlético continue to bring in reinforcements. This time it is Peter Kenyon, who will adopt a role within the club's official structure as a high-level consultant.

According to sources at the club, he will focus solely on commercial and international expansion, although it seems highly unlikely that the former Manchester United and Chelsea managing director will not play a part, at least indirectly, in first-team planning and strategy.

It is common knowledge that Kenyon has a good relationship with Miguel Ángel Gil, Atlético's managing director, one built over the past few years and in which football agent, Jorge Mendes has played an important role after he worked alongside the Englishman at the Quality Sports Investment LP fund.

Sources in Valencia have long believed that both of them played a part in Singaporean business tycoon, Peter Lim's deal to buy the Mestalla club.

Kenyon also worked in the sports division at CAA, the multinational agency that manages the careers of A-list Hollywood stars, and previously reached an agreement with Atlético regarding their image and sponsorship rights.

According to sources at the Vicente Calderón, Kenyon's arrival at the club has nothing to do with the short and medium-term cash injection linked with Wang Jianlin's arrival at the club.

Rutinski dobivena utakmica uz pogotke TIaga i Maria Suareza.
Mandžo solidan danas, šteta što je fulao zicer u 2. pol.
Gimenez je sasvim korektno zamijenio Mirandu tako da se nije osjetio njegov izostanak.
