Owen je navijač Evertona od djetinjstva, a i ergela mu je tamo blizu. Jedini problem je što se Everton ne razbacuje lovom pa će mu ponudit manje nego drugi

What needs to happen at Liverpool?

Liverpool

Frank Praverman

Liverpool's future looks bleak this morning as their latest accounts lay bare the trouble the club is in.

Companies House yesterday revealed that Liverpool paid £36.5 million in interest on their debts in the financial year ending July 31, 2008. Even more alarming is a statement by KPMG, the auditor, that warned of a “material uncertainty which may cast significant doubt upon the group’s ability to continue as a going concern”.

The club’s net debt, not including that of the holding company, Kop Football (Holdings) Ltd, almost doubled from £43.9 million to £86 million. Kop Football (Holdings) Ltd made a pre-tax loss of £42.6 million, with its net debt rising to £299.5 million.

Pre-construction work on the new site at Stanley Park was halted indefinitely last September, with the owners citing the unfavourable conditions in the global financial market. The potential loss of extra gate revenue at a larger stadium is enormous.

Liverpool have already lost out on signing Gareth Barry and their courting of David Silva appears to be futile with Real Madrid targeting the Valencia midfielder as well.

A new ticket scheme announced this morning has also upset fans at Anfield, who feel they are casualties of greed.

So what is the answer? Is it as simple as finding a new buyer or should faith be shown in the master plan of Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr? Would a new stadium ease all the problems or is there an urgency for further success in the Champions League as well as a first Premier League title?

How can you solve a problem like Liverpool? Let us know below.

tko ih šiša, možda im je klub još nešto i dužan, pa se može uštedjeti osnivanjem udruge...

Slaven Bilic is 'very interested' in holding talks with Portsmouth over the club's vacant managerial position, according to the Croatia boss' agent.

Pompey are currently without a permanent head coach after temporary manager Paul Hart's deal expired at the end of last season.

The club are overseeing a period of change as prospective owner Sulaiman Al-Fahim is in a period of due diligence before his takeover at Fratton Park is completed.

A number of high-profile coaches have been linked with the post, including Sven Goran Eriksson, with Bilic's name the latest to be mentioned.

Bilic's agent, Rudi Vata, has now claimed the former West Ham defender would be keen to manage on the South Coast, despite the Croatian Football Federation being keen to hold onto his services.

Hungry

Vata, who recently suggested the Croatian could be set for Celtic, told The News: "Slaven is open to offers and there is interest from Portsmouth.

"There are different clubs who want him but he is very interested.

"Portsmouth have tried to get in touch, but there is no concrete offer at this stage.

"But the idea of working with and building the club would excite him.

"Slaven is hungry for the right club with the right ambition because he is a hungry manager. He is a person who sets high goals and wants to work hard to achieve them.

"There are going to be special things from him in the future."

MANAGER SPECIALS
Sky Bet go 4/1 for Slaven Bilic to be appointed as Portsmouth's manager. The Croatian boss is currently second in the betting behind former England and Man City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson. To bet on manager specials
