England have got to the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship the hard way.
In three games they have never looked dominant or convincing.

I could see why the Serbians were upset
|
They drew with the Czech Republic, had a good game against Italy for half-an-hour and then Serbia also played the better football.
Stuart Pearce will be delighted with the first goal from a set-piece and we work well at them - just not in general play. I was surprised by the way they pumped the ball forward.
As for the second goal, well that was dubious.
I think they should have kicked the ball out. Both teams did it all game, the guy was lying down injured and I could see why the Serbians were upset.
But Matt Derbyshire took it well and there are people in that team that can score, like him, David Nugent and Leroy Lita.
So we haven't played well, but we're there and hopefully can start relaxing a bit as the underdogs.
That's what we'll be against Holland, who will definitely create a lot.
But I don't think the Dutch have ever been great defensively and England will be able to create chances.
Although if they want to go through to the final they will have to play better football. You can't just rely on set-pieces all the time.
If they go direct, like they did against Serbia, Holland will have a lot possession, they've got clever players and, with a home crowd as well, it will be a big ask for England.
