Bayern – Hamburg analysis in statistics (week 16)

Saturday’s game was not perfect but the statistics from it look pretty good. A few players who have recently been criticized did very well.
My man of the match
Toni Kroos. His ball distribution was solid with 87 passes completed, quality free kicks and a 91% success rate. 3 shots on goal.
Thiago working harder
Was he criticized internally for his challenges? He won 24 of them on Saturday, a spectacular number for him. He also got the ball 128 times and completed 99 passes, making himself central to the attack. Two of his passes created chances, plus 6 dribbles.
Philipp Lahm
He was super active as a defensive midfielder. 11.83 kilometers covered and 104 passes completed.
Improving in the air
63% of challenges won and this time. Our defensive challenges were fine, with 24 out of 38 won as you can see on the following graphic from FourFourTwo.
Xherdan Shaqiri
He only played 12 minutes and yet, he scored one goal and provided two key passes.
Daniel van Buyten
He had a decent defensive game with 2 interceptions, 3 effective clearances out of 3 attempts and 4 tackles won.
Weak wings
Our play on the wings was almost non-existent in the first half, as you can see with take-ons on the following graphic.
