In the penalty round, Stojanovic was better for the one goal that made all the difference. Pancev’s goal from the penalty spot triggered unforgettable celebration among Red Star fans – those inside the stadium and many more around the world.

Toyota presented the winner of this match with a special trophy.
DANUBE CUP
Danube Cup was won in 1958 but it will remain as one of the most significant trophies in Red Star’s museum.
The competition was exceptional with clubs from five countries competing for the first place. Yugoslavia was represented by Red Star, Partizan, Vojvodina and Radnicki from Zemun, Hungary by MTK, Ferencvaros, Salgotarjan and Tatabanja, Czechoslovakia by Ruda Hvjezda (Red Star), Dinamo Prague, Dukla from Pardubice and Tatran Presov, Bulgaria by Levski and Locomotive from Sofia and Romania by CCA from Bucharest and Shield from Temisoara.
Home and away knockout system was used to determine the winner. Red Star first played on 23rd of May against Dukla Pardubice and won 2:0 (0:0) thanks to goals by Bora Kostic and Borozan. In the return leg Red Star managed a goalless draw without major difficulties.
The opponent in the quarterfinals was Locomotive Sofia. The game in Sofia was marked by Bora Kostic who scored four goals to assure Red Star a draw (4:4). In Belgrade’s return leg it was again the left footed bomber who was fatal for the Bulgarians by scoring the only goal of the match and brought Red Star (1:0) through to the semis.
Not even Radnicki managed to stop the red and white armada in Zemun. The away win (2:1) was enough to bring Red Star to finals since the return leg ended without both winner and goals. Danube Cup stayed in Belgrade where Czechoslovakians have fallen too. Ruda Hvjezda was smoked out on 6th of July with four goals (4:1) scored by Kostic (2), Milosevic and Milanovic. Even in the return leg on 12th of July in Brno, red and whites have triumphed; this time with 3:2 scorers being Kostic, Sekularac and Milosevic.
