Two of Kotoko’s influential and important players, defender Awal Mohamed and midfield engine, Michael Akuffu will on Saturday fly out of the country to begin a two week trials with Dynamo Zagreb of Croatia.
The two, who joined the porcupine family at the second round window of the 2010/11 Glo Premier League season would be passengers on Turkish Airways at 9:15pm on Saturday for Zagreb via a transit at the Istanbul International Airport.
Briefing Kotoko Express on the travel schedule of the two for the trip, Administrative and Public Affairs Manager, Benjamin Nti said all documentation for the trip have been secured.
“The tickets and all other documents including visas for the players have been received by Kotoko and that we would be making sure that they would be ready for the trip on the scheduled date”.
“Management has insisted that every player who has served the club for at least six months would not be impeded when an offer or an invitation from recognized sources come for them,” Ben Nti said in response to whether it was not too early for the club to sell out their best of players at a time when the team had started gelling.
According to him, much as the club would have loved to maintain the players, it was impossible due to the need for the club to rain funds to recruit more players and also undertake the many infrastructure development and projects that have been planned by the Dr. K.K. Sarpong administration .
Ben Nti also hinted that some more invitations have been received for some other players and was categorical that management would not impede those movements.
“We are waiting for the tickets and visas of the other players to arrive and Kotoko would be blessing the players for the trip”.
“However, management would like to assure all that we will not in any way do things that would negatively affect the progress of the club. We have carefully accessed the situation and have taken the decision that would be in the best interest of the club,” he assured.
