POMPEY CAPTURE CROATIAN ACE

Pompey have signed 22-year-old Croatian star Niko Kranjcar from Hajduk Split.
The
creative midfielder is regarded by supporters and coaches as Croatia's
brightest talent and the only current member of their national team of
the same exceptional quality as the 'golden generation' which included
the likes of Robert Prosinecki and Zvonimir Boban.
Capped 24
times for his country, dual-footed playmaker Kranjcar possesses
fantastic technique, vision and an eye for goal. Pompey flew its
medical team over to Zagreb today where the player, currently preparing
with the Croatian national team for their EURO 2008 qualifying games,
passed a medical and signed a four-year-deal with the club. Peter
Storrie, Pompey Chief Executive Officer, wishes to extend his thanks on
behalf of the club to Croatia national team coach Slavan Bilic for
allowing Kranjcar time out from his national team duties to sign for
the club.
Niko will wear the number 19 shirt vacated by Collins Mbesuma following the striker's loan move to Maritimo.
