Cassano Wants Sampdoria Move - Marotta
Sampdoria general director Beppe Marotta claimed that Antonio Cassano is keen on a move to the Blucerchiati.
Beppe Marotta talked about the transfer rumours surrounding the arrival of Antonio Cassano.
"Cassano would like to return to Italy and wants to join Samp, and we are proud of that," he said
"He's beyond our budget, but we are waiting to see what happens."
"We are calmly awaiting the decision of Real Madrid," he continued.
"I want to reiterate however that we are talking about a very prestigious purchase, but also of an operation which is way, way beyond our transfer budget."
"We have not made any offers yet, but we acknowledge with pride that the lad showed interest in wearing our shirt."
Sampdoria have supposedly told Real Madrid that they do not want to buy the player immediately, rather, are only interested in a loan deal which would still see Los Merengues pick up a significant part of his 4.2 million euro annual pay-cheque.
Manchester City are reportedly ready to make a move for him, and also meet his wage demands, but the player wants to return to Italy, where he impressed, first with Bari and then Roma.
Sampdoria are hoping that the player's desire to return to Calcio will prove decisive.
