There is currently a lot of tension in La Liga, and Spanish football could be facing a temporary lockout.
Many La Liga clubs are considering going on strike as a protest measure against the processing of the new Sports Law in Spain.
Their concerns are mainly about 3 things: The possible implementation of the European Super League, the income earned from TV rights, and the share of power between the clubs and the RFEF.
This is something that Real Madrid has taken to court several times against Javier Tebas. La Liga understands that if this amendment is not included, the contracts signed by all the clubs and the 50-year agreement with CVC will be jeopardized. Several La Liga clubs believe that their main source of income (the split of marketing and television rights) could be in danger. There is also intention to give greater power to the clubs in developing complementary activities.
The Delegate Comission of La Liga (which includes representatives from Atletico, but not of Barca nor Real Madrid), as well as Javier Tebas, will meet with the Sports Council of Spain on Monday.
If they are not listened to, there is a high possibility that a strike occurs, which would lead to the temporary paralyzation of the league.
