Chelsea have agreed with Croatian side Inter Zapresic that goalkeeper Matej Delac will join them in 2011.

The 17-year-old will stay in Croatia, with the Blues, recently hit by a transfer ban, paying his wages.

But he will train with Chelsea whenever possible before arriving at the Premier League club on a five-year contract.

Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "He is a young keeper getting very good experience in his country. We think he can be very good in the future."

The west London club, currently enjoying top-spot in the Premier League, are banned from registering new players until January 2011 after they were found to have induced Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.

The Blues are appealing against Fifa's ruling but Ancelotti believes the world's governing body are satisfied with their latest move.

"I think Fifa are happy," the Italian coach said. "Delac is a very young goalkeeper and this is a solution for our future, not for the present.

"We put a lot of attention on the young players in every part of the world and if it is possible to take them, we want to do this."

Zapresic sporting director Branko Laljak said: "This deal will save us from bankruptcy.

"We are proud to have sold one of our players to one of the strongest clubs in the world."

Delac, who only turned 17 in August, broke the record for the youngest Croatian player ever called up for international duty when Slaven Bilic named him in his squad to face England at Wembley earlier this month.
