Portsmouth have taken French Under 21 international Arnold Mvuemba on trial, according to reports in France.
The Rennes hopeful has been a regular for the reserves so far
this season, but has struggled to command a regular starting role.
He has therefore travelled to Fratton Park, as Rennes officials look to secure a swap deal for Pompey midfielder Niko Kranjcar.
Jimmy Briand is meanwhile, also restless about his role on the
fringes at Stade Rennais and has hinted that he could also be on the
move in the January transfer window.
"If it carries on, I could only stay until the end of the season," Briand explained.
"I want to play, but we will see what could happen during the winter transfer window."
Rennes have made a steady start to the season so far, but will
want to improve their squad in January as they look to move up into one
of the European spots in Ligue 1.
