Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski could be £80m to £100m player, says Gary Neville

Dejan Kulusevski set up Richarlison for Tottenham's opener against Nottingham Forest; he then took advantage of a Matt Turner error to power home Spurs' second; Kulusevski also enjoys the No 10 role; Gary Neville also says he "loves watching Tottenham play" under Ange Postecoglou

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville says he can see Dejan Kulusevski becoming a "£80m to £100m player" after his match-winning performance against Nottingham Forest.

Kulusevski has featured on the right and through the middle for Spurs and played in the No 10 role during his star turn in Nottingham.

Neville identified qualities in the forward that could increase his price tag in the coming years, telling Sky Sports: "Players that play in that role, that take it on the back foot and accept it on the back foot, the attacking midfielders, the No 10s, any player of that ilk, they're very rare to be able to do that.

"What we've seen in the last few weeks (Man C, Newcastle) is him playing that 10 role and become one of the rare players.  "You're talking about him going from a player who might be £50m on the right to being something that if he gets going in that No 10 position, can be really special and then you're pushing it to an £80m or £100m player.

It is the central role that Kulusevski himself prefers too, telling Sky Sports:" That's my position. Before I was a 10. I always played in the middle. "Then in Parma, in the first season they put me right winger and that's what I had to do, I had to change my position after that. But I'm ready to play every position because I did it all my life.

Style of play A tall, physically strong, and versatile player, Kulusevski is capable of playing in several midfield and attacking roles, and has been deployed as an attacking midfielder, as a box-to-box midfielder, as a winger on either flank, or even as an offensive-minded central midfielder, known as the mezzala role in Italian (literally "half-winger"); his main position is playing as an attacking midfielder behind the striker. He has also been deployed as a makeshift centre-forward on occasion. His main qualities are his acceleration, speed, stamina, and his ability to switch the play or provide assists and through balls to teammates, courtesy of his vision and passing ability. He also possesses good technique, dribbling skills, and striking ability, which enables him to score goals, in addition to creating chances for teammates.Regarded as a promising and hard-working player in the media, his manager at Parma, Roberto D'Aversa, has compared Kulusevski to Mohamed Salah. He noted how the player "is always among the players who cover the most distance in every game", and "has the right mentality". Kulusevski himself named compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimović as an influence.Regarding his own playing style, he commented in a 2019 interview with Sportbladet: "I like to have the ball at my feet. I used to dribble a lot when I was a kid but I have got better at moving the ball more quickly. I have developed my defensive game, that was a weakness before, and that has made me a more complete player.He has also cited Belgian footballers Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard as players he admires and seeks to emulate.
