The fiancée of new England vice-captain Steven Gerrard is alleged to have attacked diner Michelle Dures, 18, in a 3am row at a Chinese restaurant.

Last night a friend who was with blonde Michelle said her pal’s right eye had been left a “bloody pulp”.

She added: “There was blood gushing from her eye. It was awful.

“Doctors said she was lucky not to have been blinded.”

Alex, 23, was questioned at a police station after the fracas in the karaoke bar of Liverpool’s posh Shangri-La restaurant.

The beauty — known for her trademark £700 Chloe handbags — surrendered her designer bag to detectives.

A source said: “She denied bottling the girl, but she told an officer she thought she may have accidentally caught her in the face with her big handbag. It was taken away to be examined.”

Alex was released on bail until November, pending further inquiries.

She and Steven, 26, had been out for the evening with her best pal Kelly Ellison and Kelly’s partner Chris Farley — who occasionally acts as Steven’s bodyguard — to celebrate the Liverpool player’s promotion to England deputy.

Steven went home at about 10.30pm as he prepared for tomorrow’s Community Shield clash with Chelsea.

Alex carried on partying at the city’s trendy Newz Bar before moving to the restaurant at 2.30am.

A brawl broke out between a group of men and women around 20 minutes later. Michelle is believed to have been hit with an alcopops bottle when she tried to intervene.

The pal said: “It was horrible. We were just having a meal after a night out and there was a fight in the restaurant.

“My mate stood up and started screaming for them to stop fighting and one of the blokes came over to her and was really abusive.

“He was swearing and ranting and knocked her bag off the table.
