SERBIAN sensation Milos Krasic has ruled out the prospect of joining his international colleague Milan Jovanovic at Anfield because Liverpool cannot afford him.

The highly-rated CSKA Moscow ace is a target for a number of top clubs with a summer move on the agenda.

Numerous reports on Thursday claimed Rafa Benitez was in pole position to land Krasic, with some indicating a deal was already done, but the midfielder will not be heading to Merseyside.

Real Madrid lead the race for his signature and his preference is to move to Spain, although the chance to join a superpower in Serie A or the Premier League would be difficult to resist.

"I'd love to be in the same jersey as him [Jovanovic]," admitted Krasic.

"But it is, at least for now, mission impossible.

"I'm familiar with the situation at Liverpool.

"The price set by my team is too high for the English giants and, frankly, I have other ambitions."

The comments will be seen as a snub to Liverpool, who are still battling to secure Champions League football next season after a 1-0 loss at Arsenal.

Jovanovic has confirmed our exclusive stories from mid-January and deadline day regarding the Reds - even if Liverpool are yet to formally announce his capture on a Bosman free transfer.

"I have already signed for the Reds," he stated. "Liverpool are always Liverpool. This is a great club.

"I could not find better.

"I don't know if I will be in the attack or on the left wing, but the important thing is playing, not the role."
