Bogi, first of all, our dear and beloved Zdravko didn't buy Tomislav Mikulic yet. Mikulic and his current club, Genk, have an agreement that Mikulic is not allowed to talk to other parties without Genk being involved in the talks. This agreement ends on January 1st, 2008. There is several other offers for Mikulic from clubs such as Standard Liège, Olympiakos and some unnamed ones.
I have no insight in Krizanac' playing qualities and no info if he is keen at all to play for Dinamo, but cashing out 400.000,00 Euros for Mikulic don't seem a bad deal for Dinamo in my opinion. If it was a striker who'd cost Dinamo 3 to 4 million Euros and he'd be worth his money, expectations are bigger with strikers, I'd say fine. So if Mamic can get Mikulic for 400k and Mikulic is all game, nice deal. Mamic is not supposed to spend all the money the club gained from transfering Eduardo and Corluka. Krizanac would be interesting for Dinamo if he was willing to play in the HNL and was not too expensive.
Money is spent easily, but you have no guarantee the player you cash out that boldly will fulfill the club's expectations. Talking about sums you mentioned, 3 or 4 millions, it would be a blow for Dinamo if that certain player would be a big time flop. Remember poor Nowotny, definitely no deal Dinamo is happy about. Or think of Anderson Costa...Robert Kovac, who wanted a shitload of money and a bank warranty, refused the deal when Borussia Dortmund came in and offered him LESS money...
We don't need players like that...
Krizanac' value can't possibly be 3 or 4 million Euros. He never played the Champions League. A couple of UEFA Cup games with Zenit. That's it. Alright, he won the Russian championship now with Zenit. That's not that much for a player to ask for that money just like that. He never played in the Croatian national. His realistic value can only be around 400k to 600k.
