Serie A Report: King Kaká Moves Milan Up

Visitors Catania were first to try their luck at San Siro in the third minute as Fabio Caserta’sr ight-footed long shot was blocked, but Milan struck back in what would be a decisive move forward. Mark Edusei conceded a corner and Kaká (4 min) was soon up in lights as he whammed in a winner from an acute angle on the left after a Gilardino assist.

The same number 22 was active again as he tried out his right-foot cannon again only to be blocked by the Rossazzurri rearguard. The Brazilian touch was kept up by Cafú as the veteran initiated a fast break but Ricardo Oliveira’s final finish went astray. Kaká almost aped his goal in the 13th minute but Pantanelli was wise to his intent this time around and defused the danger,

Kaká tried the same move again with Jankulovski instead of Gila, the ball scraping paint off the woodwork as it went wide. Oliveira was active with a free kick attempt and a high shot off a Pirlo headed pass. Edusei tried a rare Catania effort on the 20th minute but was blocked. Pirlo got his first chance five minutes later but was blocked and Cafú’s aim also needed adjusting as the wing-back shot high and wide.

The Kakka and Oliveira double-act continued, the numbers 22 and 7 being the Rossoneri’s best attacking arguments in the first half with the former being far more incisive and the latter confirming his critics’ view of the ex-Betis man as a poor inheritor of Sheva’s shirt.

Just as San Siro was getting ready to celebrate a new goal, Mascara hit Kalac’s left post with a right-footed free kick to warn the Rossoneri to watch out and capitalise on their opportunities. The first half ended after two minutes of injury time with a Spinesi missing to the right but coming close enough to suggest that Ancellotti did some ear-bending at half-time.

The second half started with substitutions as Catania upped the firepower and brought on forward Corona forward for Francesco Millesi and midfielder Juan Manuel Risco Vargas defender for Giorgio Lucenti. Ricardo Oliveira started the second half off as he’d finished the first and missed to the left after a Cafú build-up.

Marek Jankulovski came close, but missed the top left corner after Ricardo Oliveira turned ‘garçon’ and assisted off a fast break. New entrant Juan Manuel Risco Vargas hammered a left flank shot high and wide and on the rebound Oliveira actually got a shot on target only to see it saved, it looked as if the Brazilian was honing his aim but he didn’t have time to show it.

The first yellow came in the 60th minute, the ref showing a commendable desire to keep play going and both teams exhibiting equally praiseworthy fair play, but Daniele Bonera deserved to see yellow for a bad-tempered foul. The visitors had a double-tap of chances via Caserta and Edusei just before Oliveira went off to lukewarm applause and Seedorf came on as Ancelotti looked to secure his midfield.

Milan surprised as the move led to insistent pressure on Catania, the visitors pushing forward too much and the reinforced Rossoneri midfield able to take advantage of the resulting gaps and scored in quick succession. Alberto Gilardino (82 min) banged in a Kaladze headed pass to great relief and joy on the local terraces; the win now safe and secure with under ten minutes remaining.

As Catania made an all-out effort to nab a consolation, Mascara forcing Kalac into an important save, Simic replaced an injured Cafú and Milan made it 3-0 soon after a Gila offside. Kaká (88 min) crowned a princely performance with his brace, the number 22 converting a Gilardino pass with a sweet right-footer. Yoann Gourcuff midfielder replaced Gattuso as Ancelotti looked to squander a little time in the 89th minute.

Nisam gledao Romu uživo...

Ali, to je moja stvar... Ja imam 18 godina, i ne znam kako sam mogao gledati Romu uživo... Baš nije jednostavno, nemam ni vozačku ni svoj auto, a nije baš samo tako otići u Italiju sam, pošto ovi moji koji simpatiziraju Romu nisu spremni za neku "akciju"... Trebao sam u Udine, ali to je propalo, jer se nije igralo u nedjelju, već je pomaknuto na subotu zbog LP, a tada nisam imao prijevoz...

No, prva stvar koju planiram u 2007. godini je otići na Romu... I učiniti ću to sljedeće godine sigurno, već možda i u ovoj sezoni 06/07... A dalje neće biti problem, kad se upiše faks, nagradit ću se jednim putem u Rim, kad se dobije neki posao, također... Kao što ti sad iz Njemačke putuješ na Dinamo, tako ću i ja na Romu... Ne tražim alibi, ali ovako mlad baš i nije lako...
