In the middle of the current international break, Head Coach Juande Ramos has taken the time to reflect on the Club's activity in the summer transfer window, which has seen the acquisition of eight new players for the First Team squad.

"I have little doubt that we have a squad of greater overall quality now than when I began at this Club a year ago, and by the end of the season our results will have proved this to be the case," said Juande. "I know there is much debate about our striker options, but I look at the whole picture and not just a like-for-like exchange. I want creativity and attacking flair from many parts of the pitch

"Gomes has been performing at the top level of club football for a long time. He brings a lot to the team in terms of his goalkeeping ability, as we all saw against Chelsea on Sunday, but also with his calming influence and natural leadership. He is a great character to have around the dressing room, which is vital and brings an aura of confidence.

"We have some talented young goalkeepers at the Club and felt we needed some experience to help them develop. Cesar Sanchez brings the experience of playing and winning big competitions, and we also know that he'll be a very reliable goalkeeper if we need him to play.

"We know what Vedran Corluka can do in the Premier League and he has the experience of playing in big competitions with his national team. He can play right-back, centre-back, and also in midfield. He's young but experienced, he's got size but technique, and he's exactly the sort of player we wanted at the back. We wanted a versatile defender.

"Luka Modric brings exactly what we were looking for in terms of creativity in our midfield. He has a great work rate, is versatile and fits perfectly into the style of play I want to implement within this team. He is a positive person with an excellent attitude.

"David Bentley is an extremely skilful player with great technical ability who fits into our football philosophy. His set piece and crossing ability will be of huge importance to the team. He has shown that he is completely committed to playing for Spurs, with a desire to develop as a player and achieve things with this club.

"Giovani is a great prospect. His potential is huge on a physical, technical and mental level. He has the ability to play wide on the right and left and particularly as a number ten supporting the striker. He can create, finish and make things happen out of nothing. He is someone who clearly enjoys his football and his experience comes from having played on the world stage from a very young age.

"We have seen what Roman Pavlyuchenko is capable of from his time at Spartak Moscow and particularly at the recent European Championships. He has goalscoring pedigree having been the leading scorer in Russia for the past two seasons. He has vast power and strength but also the talent to finish in the penalty box. We have players of great crossing ability and you need players who can finish in the area. He has everything- pace, power and workrate and that is exactly what we were looking for in our No 9 shirt.

"Fraizer Campbell brings us pace, power and he's a very good goalscorer. He has a good workrate and is a handful for defenders, not for the same reasons as Roman, but because of his lightning pace. On top of that, he's a natural goalscorer as we saw last season during his time on loan at Hull City. When you've got the ability, it gives you self-belief, and that's what he's got."
