Confirmed: Seahawks agree to terms with Tarvaris Jackson

The Seahawks have reached an agreement on a contract with quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, according to a league source.

Jackson played the past five seasons in Minnesota, which chose him in the second round of the draft.

Terms of the deal are not known, and he can't sign a contract until Friday, which is the first day transactions may be filed with the league.

Jackson, 28, played in Minnesota under Darrell Bevell, who was hired to be Seattle's new offensive coordinator.

Jackson's role will be a question. Most likely, he will compete with Charlie Whitehurst for the starting job.

Hasselbeck's chance to re-sign with Seattle evaporated with the Seahawks' decision to acquire Jackson.

In Minnesota, Jackson started 20 games. The Vikings were 10-10 in those games, but he was supplanted by Brett Favre on the depth chart the previous two years.

Times report: Matt Hasselbeck will not re-sign with Seattle

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not re-sign with the Seahawks, The Seattle Times has learned.

Hasselbeck has been with the Seahawks for the past 10 years. He is an unrestricted free agent, and NFL teams could begin negotiating with free agents on Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.

Early indications were that the Seahawks were one of Hasselbeck's considerations along with Arizona, San Francisco, Tennessee and Miami.

In the early afternoon, The Times learned the Seahawks were no longer an option.

o bože, Leinart mi je još oke ali T-Jax...dear lord

inače na nfl-u piše da su Jetsi zainteresirani za Nnamdia Asomugha-a, realno ak oni njega dovedu to će bit bolesno, 2 najbolja CB-a u ligi jedan s drugim..nema smisla

Salary Cap Update- Some great news came out for the New York Jets as the dead money from the 2010 season will not be applied to this year's cap number. This will put Gang Green approximately $8 million dollars under the salary cap for the 2011 season. The Jets should be able to create additional room by signing linebacker David Harris long term and restructuring the contract of Mark Sanchez.

Opet ne vidim nacin kako bi mogli dovesti Nnamdija, iako je rekao da bi prihvatio i manju plaću ukoliko bi potpisao za tim koji je natjecatelj, ne vjerujem da bi prihvatio ugovor ispod 7-8 miliona godisnje.

i kad bi jetsi uspjeli skresat još koji milijun pa doći na nekih 12 milijuna ispod SC-a opet im se ne isplati dovodit Nnamdia jer im onda ne preostaje para za svoje ostale FA (njih 16 tj. 17 ak Woody odustane od umirovljenje). a ne treba zaboravit da još moraju potpisati igrače koje su uzeli na draftu.
da budem iskren ja navijam da ga uspiju potpisati jer bi to značilo da skoro svi njihovi FA odlaze. po meni bi puno više izgubili s tim potezom nego bi dobili.

News broke Tuesday that the Seattle Seahawks wouldn't re-sign the 35-year-old Hasselbeck. Instead, the Seahawks agreed to a deal with former Minnesota Viking Tarvaris Jackson, multiple sources told ESPN.

The Titans are expected to groom Jake Locker, the eighth pick in the draft in April, to be their starter of the future. The team announced in January that it would either release Vince Young or try to trade him away because he's not in its plans for the coming season.

Hasselbeck will turn 36 in September. His prior contract was signed before the start of the 2005 season and was followed by him leading the Seahawks to their only Super Bowl appearance.

Hasselbeck threw for 272 yards and a career playoff-high four touchdowns in engineering the Seahawks' upset victory over defending Super Bowl champion Saints in last season's playoffs.
