"The Colors of Manhattan: a European Architect’s Love Affair with the BigApple”
Award winning architect, urban planner, design studio entrepreneur and university lecturer, Bojan Bilich is especially passionate about all things Big Apple. Manhattan figures prominently in a course that professor Bilich teaches at the College of Engineering in Rijeka, Croatia, and even more so, in his heart, he says..
For his St. John’s talk (Wednesday, November 30, DAC 207, 2 p.m.) professor Bilich has assembled a spectacular collection of photographs, slides and videos. Using architecture as the common thematic thread, he will talk about the distinct spaces, colors, sounds and even scents of Manhattan! He will reveal to us those special spots in Manhattan from which one can soak in some of the most fantastic visual urban imagery anywhere!
Professor Bilich epitomizes that well-rounded, Renaissance-educated, Old World intellectual. He brings to his lectures a unique perspective that is not just multi-disciplinary, but also multi-aesthetic. Listening to him talk, one begins to discover the universal language of beauty that is the common denominator behind the seemingly disparate genres of architecture, art, photography, music and literature. Professor Bilich manages to bring all of these together, in his own special ode to New York.
Professor Bilich’s talk should be particularly relevant to those DNY classes which explore New York’s aesthetic components, such as photography, architecture, and art.
