S obzirom da sam profesionalno igrao tenis petnaestak godina, a pratim ga preko dvadesetak, napisat ću da poprilično dobro poznajem tematiku.

US Open officials insist they have been aiming for consistent speeds by using the same court mix since 2004. After tweaking the courts slightly in 2002 and 2003, organizers hoped they had found the perfect speed.

“We felt that with a big-server like Andy Roddick facing a baseliner in Juan-Carlos Ferrero, that we had the best court formula that was fair for all styles of play,” said a US Open spokesperson.

To je jedan turnir, a većina je mijenjana nekoliko godina kasnije, a da bi zadnji čavli u lijes bili zabijeni ukidanjem "tepiha" u dvorani i mijenjanjem podloge u Australiji.
Veći je problem nastao mijenjanjem loptica i samim reketima koji mogu generirati daleko više top-spina nego recimo prije desetak godina i žicama koje generiraju više snage.
To je glavna razlika u tenisu prije desetak ili više godina. Ovo su ti neki primjeri pa slobodno pročitaš ako već ciljaš na stručnije analize od onih "ja gledam pa vidim".

Well, I don’t think it’s that much of a difference since I played Pete here in 2001 really. So, I mean, it’s not that extreme, you know, to the point where I need to thank anybody, I think, you know.

kad smo već kod podloga wonka govorio si da će se podloga usporavati kako turnir odmiče, obzirom da je u pitanju umjetni materijal - možeš li to objasniti? (vol2)

Umjetan ili ne, podloga se troši s vremenom. Ok, iznimno puno utječe i samo vrijeme (temperatura, vlaga), ali nemoguće je zadržavati istu brzinu terena.
Isto kako su općenito vanjski tereni daleko brži od onih od ovih glavnih.
