Everyone should be outraged by this. It's quite blatant what is going on and in years to come the corruption will become publicly disprovable, inevitably at a time that certain people are no longer around to be brought to justice for it. As UEFA said, football is not for someone to sell (as ironic as that may be considering the last 20-30 years of nothing but selling the soul) but this is genuinely a different type of problem. The appeal of the World Cup is that it is a rare occurrence every 4 years. Already they are increasing it to too many teams, then there are suggestions of having it every 2 or 3 years. Now there will be outside investment from a very specific set of people who are only there to fill their own pockets and could not give a flying toss about anything else. This is an actual disaster for the sport and that really is not an understatement. My hope is that they sign this deal and are stuck with it. Then UEFA nations pull out entirely, some of the others join and there is a rival tournament, minus most of the blatant corruption. To make it even more hilarious the merchandise rights go to Panini and not Topps/Fanatics :p Sadly that will not happen and we will instead be laced with a tournament that is strictly FOR profit, with people deciding to amend all sorts of rules to whenever it benefits them, hosted only by specific nations that pay the most for the privilege.
