The only new building in Zagreb is Zagreb Arena, built for the recent world chapmionship in handball.  It is a beautiful, multifunctional facility, which I believe could host hockey games.  However, I haven't seen or heard anything yet about Medveščak playing there.  Could be, who knows....

The only other two rinks I am aware of are the "Ledena" (transl. = icy) hall in the "Dom Sportova", and a rink at a Zagreb Fair pavillion.  While Ledena is definitely not new by any stretch of the imagination, it was designed for ice hockey.  I remember in the mid 80's when ice hockey briefly became very popular in former Yugoslavia, there would be upwards of 10,000 people there - but I have no idea what the capacity is now.
The rink at Zagreb Fair is not worth mentioning in the context of a highly professional league...
I am going to space, and when I come back I have to pick up poodle crap.

Zdravo Hrvatski! Sorry but i don´t speak or can write in the croatin language. :(

Hello to all,

Ok, i would like to start a new topic but i´m not allowed to do this so I must i use this Thread because I do have Question to the hockeyfans and experts on this board Wink.

I´m a Ice Hockey Fan from Salzburg and Salzburg play´s in the highest Austrian Hockey League but we have also Three Guest Teams 2 from Slovenia (HK Jesenice and Olimpija Ljubljana) and one from Hungary (Alba Volan Szekesfehervar).
A few days ago the HC Innsbruck sayed the leave the EBEL in the second league. (Nationalliga) and now we have only 9. Teams but the League Managers would like ten.

And now we on the point: The Manager´s of the League was on a meeting near Salzburg and then we heard a rumour that a Team from Zagreb would like join the like.

And now my Questins to you:

1. What is the name of the Team (I´ve heard there a more than one hockey team in Zagreb?).

2. To the have enough money for a "adventure EBEL"?

3. What the fans about think that to play as a guest team in a Austrian League?

4. Famous Croatia Ice Hockey Players ?

5. Do you think that the have a chance for the Play offs ?

Thank you all for answers Smile.

2. not yet, but .... Croatia is known by the fact that they find money for crazy projects Big%20smile
5. no way. at the moment they dont have a single player that could mean something in EBEL. For that they need to change all players. this team would be just a KANONFUTR LOL

Cheers Kauboj for your answers.

A question that I´ve forgotten, how many Hall´s are in Zagreb because you´re talkin of two other teams in Zagreb and the two teams are play in the Panonian League, the time management would be intressting.
I´ve heard Medveščak have a new beatiful Stadium is it true???

And if they are strong as Jesenice and Olimpija i think they do have a good chance to play in the play off´s. This year we are played against jesenice in the quarterfinal, last year the final was against Olimpija.

Hall´s are a light year better that Tivoli or Podmežakla.
As I wrote earlier they are not as strong as Jesenice or Olimpija. They lost semifinals with Olimpija, but Olimpija played without ELIK,BANHAM,MITCHEL,YAREMA,PETRILAINEN,KORHONEN,JENSEN.... i believe that you know what this player mean for Olimpija. and Olimpija sucked tis yearClap

I know Elik is a hockey genie, Banham we know him in salzburg he was the favourite player when he was gone by the coach everybody get angry about the coach and he is a top player also Mitchell so i think important player.

Ok i was veryo often in the Podmezakla in Jesenice but i was never in the Hala Tivoli but when the Hall is better like them both then it is good.

If Zagreb will join the EBEL so I think the get a Roster to come to play offs.

Oh come son, get not aggressive, I did not see the situation because i think you mean that (somebody say it) when Boots injured yeats but i did not seen the situation and i´ve seen that Bootland became a hit from a jesenice player but it´s over and out.

Just a word about Bootland, he´s guy the Home Team and the Crowd love´s him and the guests Time and the away supporters don´t like him Wink but he´s the Typ for it, look on his Penalty Statistic in the NHL/AHL Wink.

And a word about Jesenice, I do have two favourite Teams in the EBEL Salzburg and Jesenice, I was on derbys against Olimpija in the Podmezakla and it was great atmosphere.
I do also have good friends in Jesenice and it´s always nice to be there :).
And as a Away Supporter you have no Problem in Jesenice that is Hockey Culture, also don´t get so aggressive please, Cheers.

But this is not so the Think i wan´t talk about I´m interest on the Croatia Hockey and that Zagreb get do have Chance on the EBEL, sportive as financial.

Because last season the was fan group of olimpija ljubljana and the go to grounds and the to a little riots (not so real but i don´t know a better word now in english, sorry) and know many people say the fans would be a problem but i don´t think so.
Can somebody please tell me about a little bit of the fans, so i can get the scare take a little bit off of some fans ;). Cheers.

Last time Croatian hockey fans did anything violent was.... well, never.
The concern probably comes from the "fear" that Medveščak may establish a relationship with BBB (Bad Blue Boys), the fans of (primarily) football club Dinamo Zagreb, who do have a well-deserved reputation for violence.
However, I just don't see that happening... not for ice hockey...

Bijah jučer na Mladost - Medveščak.
Je da je utakmica bila jednosmjerna kompletno, ali se isplatilo pogledati to.
Lipo, nema što.
